Jack Pata spent many years in many religions seeking truth and assurance of salvation. In Hilton, NY on September 15, 1972, his quest ended when he found the Truth in the word of God (King James AV 1611 Bible) and got saved.
Shortly thereafter, Jack began his work in the ministry as a Sunday School teacher and bus captain. He spent many weekends behind the wheel providing transportation for those who needed it and witnessing to their family members. Many souls were saved. Jack spent the next couple years teaching teen Bible studies while also focusing on his own walk with the Lord. In 1975, he began laying the groundwork with a close Pastor friend to start a new King James Baptist Church in Irondequoit, NY. As a Deacon of this new church, Jack preached and taught adult Sunday School for the next several years.
February of 1983, Jack was licensed to preach the Gospel of the Grace of God, and in 1984 he was ordained a Minister of the Gospel.
Christian Bible Fellowship was born in North Greece, NY in 1980 in the home of Pastor Jack Pata with only a handful of members. Jack held regular Bible studies and Sunday morning services and soon registered with NY state as "Christian Bible Church" (CBC). Over the years the congregation grew and Pastor Jack's home could no longer support the increasing attendance. In 1985, the congregation moved to "The Greece Grange" building on Long Pond Rd where Sunday services were held in the morning and evenings as well as Wednesday night Bible studies. The new space was more than adequate, but renting a space in a building that serves other purposes comes with its own challenges. There were times that services could not be held due to other events that were scheduled. Christian Bible Church really needed its own building.
In 1987, the Lord presented Jack with an opportunity to acquire 7 acres of property on North Greece Rd. He presented the opportunity to the congregation, the cost of which was fairly steep for the young church's relatively small numbers. He decided to place a box in the back of the church and left it up to free will offerings, a practice that continues to this day. When the time came to make a decision, Pastor Jack was amazed to find that the sum of the free will offering given by the members was exactly the cost of the land. By the grace of God, The Christian Bible Church building was built over the next couple years and the first service was held in May of 1989.
Christian Bible Church can still be found in the same location today, although they are no longer the sole body occupying the building. In 2017, the property was purchased by Anchor Baptist Church with an agreement to allow CBC to continue to hold services on Wednesday evenings. CBC was founded as, and will always be, a King James Bible church. With the notion that the world will undoubtedly continue to change, the motto "We are different by remaining the same" was coined to embody the church's commitment to putting the preaching and teaching of God's word above all else. To this day, CBC maintains its commitment to the fundamentals of the KJV AV 1611 and preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to see souls saved.
